 Time:

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 Sweet Vidalia Onion
  • 2 Cup(s) All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 Teaspoon(s) Paprika
  • 1 Teaspoon(s) Cayenne Pepper
  • 1 Teaspoon(s) Chili Powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon(s) Baking Soda
  • 1 (1/2) Cup(s) Beer or Fizzy Water
  • 4-5 Cup(s) Vegetable Oil
  • 3 Tablespoon(s) OMG! Sweet Habanero BBQ Sauce

PREPARATION

  1. Step 1.
Slice onion horizontally, about 1/2 inch width, removing the onion ends. Place into ice water for 20 minutes.
  2. Step 2.
Take onion rings out of water. Roll Onion Rings in flour, set aside for 20 more minutes. While waiting, pour vegetable oil into a large round cooking pot, 2 to 3 inches depth for the oil. Turn stove on low-medium heat.
  3. Step 3.
After waiting 20 minutes for the flour, turn stove to medium heat. Use leftover flour from step 1 and mix in paprika, cayenne pepper, chili powder and baking soda. Mix in Beer while stirring, the batter shouldn't be too thick or too thin, preferably the consistency of pancake batter.
  4. Step 4.
Turn stove on medium-hot heat. Take the flour battered onion rings and put into batter, evenly coat and drip off any excess. Throw into hot oil. While cooking, turn up the heat for extra crispiness. Do not leave stove while oil is on medium or high heat. Let onion rings become a golden brown color, take out of pot with a wooden spatula. Drip off any excess oil and put onion rings in a bowl with paper towels. Salt as soon as the rings come out of the hot oil.

SERVE

To serve, place Onion Rings into a large bowl with paper towels, on bottom and on top. Add extra salt as needed. Serve with OMG! Sweet Habanero BBQ Sauce for dipping.
